Turning Point

This weekend we make a turn in Genesis.
We began with the primordial stories of how everything came to be or as one of my professors used to say, the stories that explain why the world is the way it is.
Now we shift our focus to the matriarchs and patriarchs of Genesis. They will have our attention for the remainder of our time - all the way up until Labor Day.
The tales of the early parents of the faith are not for the faint of heart, nor stomach. They are, in fact, quite messed up. There are a lot of their stories that we will not delve into not only because we do not have time, but also because they make modern day politics look tame. We will, however, touch on them at a couple of important points.
This weekend, though, we start at the beginning. With the warlord that began it all.
And yes, you heard me correctly.
Abraham was not some dowdy older gentleman who looked good on a stone tablet. He was a commander of armies who could get things done. A descendant of Noah, he is the one who kicks of the line of the faithful in earnest - with his beloved, Sarah, by his side.
Make no mistake - she was a hottie, too. And that will come into play, as well.
Should be a fun turning point. See you soon!
Blessings,
Rev. Janie
