Life after Resurrection

Last month Grace celebrated her thirteenth birthday.

It was in October that we were officially chartered as a family of faith.

As so many other churches in our denomination (and so many others) are grappling with how to embrace change, Grace has already lived out a real-life resurrection story. Three churches faced their death and came out on their other side. They embraced transformation (even though it had its really rough patches), and here we sit nearly a decade and a half later.

It is true that we still wrestle with how God is working in our midst - we are human after all.

And there are more challenges ahead. The wider Church is facing a storm of resurrection the likes of which we have not seen possibly since the Reformation. Possibly even further back.

To grow where God has planted us, we will have to lean into the ancient work and words of Christ harder than ever before. In how we love everyone, especially the outcast. In how we serve the last and the lost with every breath we take. In how we share with open hearts and open doors so that our neighbors have all they need and more.

Not easy tasks. Nevertheless, the call of Christ is to ministry with the world that God loves.

And God has given us one another for the journey.

Happy Dedication Weekend, everybody!

Blessings,

Rev. Janie
